Green… Yes, please!
As the end of March approaches, my once appreciation of the quiet calm of winter has begun to fade. Looking out the window seeing the monochromatic palette of grey with albeit a pop of evergreen, that I for so many months was mesmerized by, has me now longing for any sign of another color, but especially green.
There are give or take 300 shades of green! Here in the north country of New York we are blessed with a true Spring season. It starts off with a few tiny hints, emerging early spring flowers that can tolerate a frost. Next the early buds start on the trees, again just the slightest hint of a yellowish green accents the grey sky. But with each passing week subtle shifts continue to happen ever so slowly, the yellowish green turns into full on chartreuse, then a color similar to green apples appears, until the leaves from a myriad of deciduous trees treat us to an explosion of all shades of green!
Mother Nature doing her magic and feeding our souls with much needed color and sustenance after all that was frozen, now has come to life again. Once the green arrives my mood lifts, I watch my seedlings thrive and I look forward to all the blossoms that this season brings!
