Fall Season Came & Left with a Show
My summer was filled with Yin yang… the climate either being too dry, too wet, cool then hot, then dry again we did have a beautiful garden this season. Nature somehow figures out how to moderate the shifts, with some help from us on our plot of land. Veggies, flowers all thrived!
In contrast to all the beauty we had health challenges in our family which brings emotions of all sorts, it also brings family together which is the gift in such circumstances. August, September, we had a bit of a roller coaster topping it off with six family members all experiencing Covid together, what a time!
October, my birthday month, family came home to celebrate with me, which with all the tragic events happening in the world emphasizes this as one of my most precious gifts. Ukraine, Israel, Palestine, Afghanistan, Sudan and so many other horrific tumultuous events daily abroad and right here.
At my home, I am taking care of my family, care giving, starting to put the garden to rest for the upcoming season and I am also spending time creating work for a small show I committed to happening in a few weeks. This time, my creative time I realize now more than ever is a gift. Pretty much uninterrupted albeit a dog barking, an ask from a family member, a door bell… all I am grateful for in perspective to what others are experiencing at the same moments I am creating.
So, here we are, I am creating objects that maybe will bring a bit of light, calm, comfort or even just a little smile for someone. It seems in conflict to so many things – but I am moving forward with my work, my commitment to myself and to others. Here is a sampling of my work, it includes various size table top column lanterns, framed works and a few new works in progress. Feel free to reach out through the website with any questions.
Peace to you and yours, Susan
